The Kelly Shelter is the first year-round “low barrier”, “housing first” shelter in Southern Oregon!

Through a partnership with ACCESS, Rogue Retreat has expanded the Kelly Shelter into a brand new 64-bed facility that opened year-round on November 21, 2019. The Kelly Shelter is now the first year-round, low barrier (housing first) shelter in Southern Oregon. The Kelly Shelter provides an opportunity for Rogue Retreat case management staff to meet daily with homeless men, and women to help them work on permanent ways to get off the streets, address their individual barriers, and transition back into society. This will be accomplished through providing case management and safe and stable shelter in a small community of up to 64 people sheltered per night. Shower and laundry services are available on-site.

The Kelly Shelter is under the guidance and direction of the Kelly Shelter Steering Committee, made up of local churches, agencies, and concerned citizens. The daily operations are managed by the Shelter Manager under the supervision of the Rogue Retreat Program Director. Each shift is hosted by paid, trained employees.

Case Management & Partnerships

The goal of our case management program is to find more lasting solutions for each guest to help them escape homelessness and to find ways to put a plan together for self-sufficiency and housing so they can transition into the community.

The Kelly Shelter partners with local agencies to provide wrap-around services for medical, dental, substance abuse, mental health, housing, and social service referrals.

To apply, please contact Rogue Retreat’s office at (541) 499-0880 for instructions on how to complete an application and be placed on the shelter waitlist. Shelter beds will be by application only. No drop-ins allowed. A risk assessment must be completed by Rogue Retreat staff or other community agencies who are trained in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).

Donate to Expand to 64 Permanent Beds/Night

Rogue Retreat needs your support to help us expand The Kelly Shelter to 64 permanent beds. The Kelly Shelter currently has 54 beds within and 10 temporary beds in the covered portion of the back parking lot. We are working to remodel the inside of the shelter to help make these beds permanent and help bring 10 more people in from the cold. Help us raise the needed $40,000.00 to help make these beds a permanent reality for our community.

Become a Meal Partner

We are looking for restaurants, organizations, and individuals to partner with us and give back to the community by providing one meal per month for the Kelly Shelter. We are asking restaurants and donors to buy, prepare and deliver one meal per month for 64 guests who reside in the shelter. We are happy to put the business names of our donors in Rogue Retreat’s monthly newsletter that has a local circulation of over 1,400. Also, all food donations not only support our guests and our community but may also be tax-deductible.

Become a Meal Volunteer

We are in need of Meal Volunteers that can volunteer to help cook and serve warm meals to our 64 shelter guests once a month. This is an amazing way to give back to the community and truly help those that are overcoming homelessness find the hope that they need to move forward in their lives. Due to space limitations, the shelter is mostly in need of toiletry items for shelter guests and cleaning supplies for the shelter. The most needed items are listed below:

Donate a Meal for 64 shelter guests at the Kelly Shelter.

The Kelly Shelter is a year-round shelter that currently has 64 beds. Our mission is simple: to ensure that homeless people in Medford Oregon have a place to gather indoors in a safe environment. We provide meals for our guests and are in need of meal donors. Each meal would need to feed 64 people, and can be dropped off at the shelter. Thank you in advance for your meal donation!

We are looking for restaurants, organizations and individuals to partner with us and give back to the community by delivering at least one meal per month for the Urban Campground. The preferred delivery time is 5-5:30 pm.

Donors buy, prepare and deliver one meal per month for 64 guests at the Kelly Shelter. We are happy to put the business names of our donors in Rogue Retreat's monthly newsletter that has a local circulation of over 1,400. Also, all food donations not only support our guests and our community but they may also be tax-deductible.
